This is the local bus service covering the urban area of Kyoto City. If you plan to visit Higashiyama from places within Kyoto City, City Bus is very convenient, as it offers frequent bus services and has stops located close to major tourist spots. - City Bus All-Day Pass
- This all-day pass gives you unlimited use of City Bus for a whole day within the flat-rate (\220) area. If you plan to use the bus service three or more times on the same day, this pass is the reasonable and smart choice. It is available at Kyoto City Bus/Subway Information Centers (at the Bus Information Center in front of JR Kyoto Station and Kyoto Subway Station concourse), pass sales offices, Kyoto City Bus offices, Kyoto Municipal Subway stations (Station offices or manned ticket gates) and on Kyoto City buses (excluding west-bound No. 1 to 6 and 8). The cost of an all-day pass is 500 yen for adults and 250 yen for children.
- Raku Bus
Enjoy visits to World Heritage sites, places with historical architectures and other famous locations with “Raku Bus.” (“Raku” means both “Kyoto” and “easy.”) Since this service is offered mainly for tourists, you can get to most of the tourist spots in Kyoto City by using Raku Bus and announcements, including tourist information, are provided in both Japanese and English. Railways
The Keihan or Hankyu Railways are the most convenient for visitors from Osaka. There are connections to Keihan Railway (via JR Tofukuji Station) or to Kyoto Municipal Subway (Kyoto Subway Station to Tozai Line) from JR Kyoto Station.
